These Orton-Gillingham Concept Cards allow the teacher to provide systematic review of concepts. The teacher creates a deck by adding cards as new information is introduced. The front of each card illustrates the concept to be reviewed. The back includes a student friendly explanation of each concept, a sampling of questions to probe understanding, and example-words to illustrate the concept. Teachers choose the most appropriate level of questions. Some questions require a simple one-word response, while the more advanced questions require a complete explanation. During the drill portion of the Orton-Gillingham lesson, the teacher shows the front of some of the cards in the deck, and the student explains the concept or answers the question from the card.
